  • Found out my company put in their hand book no talking about pay, so I sent it to the labor board and they got fined for it

So a while back I posted a post here how my manger said you can be fired for talking about pay in a meeting and that he can just fire you for anything regardless if its illegal since were in an at will state. Well after that I took some of your guys advice here and started documenting EVERYTHING. About 2
  • weeks ago they sent in task force to try and get rid of a bunch of us since we started standing up to them. On of them said to me, "its in the handbook no having "unautherized" conversations during work and this inculdes pay. I told him they can't do that and there is NO WAY they would put that in the
  • handbook since it would be illegal. Well I went and got a copy 3 days later went through it and to my suprise they actaully put that in the handbook. I take a picture and get another copy to send to the laber board and ohhhhh man the fallout was great. About 1 week later my manger looked like he had seen a ghost and told me his boss was terminated.
  • Additonally the task force started now telling us we are allowed to talk about pay and that the employee hand book was "revamped". Then about 3 days later a mass company notice went out and ALL mangers had to place a working rights poster up in break rooms and it had to be visable. Another week

  • KetoLurkerHereAgain Heh that last sentence tells me they haven't learned their lesson. Might have to be a sequel soon.
  • PlatypusDream "Think about what you are saying so your job is not compromised" That needs to be passed to the next examiner who asks for information! They're threatening that anyone who talks will be fired.
  • 15woodse I mean it's one thing for some idiot manager to say don't talk about pay in the workplace, but you're telling me management was so incompetent they didn't have the labor posters up?

  • Antique_Cod_1686 When HR says documentation is good, they mean them documenting, not the employee. When the company retaliates against your report, document that too and make them pay for it again.
  • "we understand these "hard" times as we go through this, but we ask you all to please try and carefully think about what you are saying to officals so your job is not compormised".
  • You can get them again for threatening employees and if the company insists on keeping you from documenting anything now, always send follow-up emails detailing and summarizing your verbal talks/"quick chats" with a request for a written confirmation.
